Translating modern workplace themes into puzzle-like digital abstractions of design using geometry, repetition, and color.
The Digital Abstract Office Series draws inspiration from Cubism, using geometric shapes, layered forms, and bold compositions to explore thought-provoking themes of office dynamics—time management, communication, and teamwork. Each artwork functions like a visual puzzle, where shapes interact like characters, building narratives through color, rhythm, and design.
The Process
With roots in design and a love for geometric structure, this series builds upon essential design elements and principles: color, shape, line, contrast, movement, balance, proportion, harmony, repetition, rhythm, white space, and form. These components become the building blocks of the collection.
The first artwork began as a playful and expressive experiment working in Illustrator—testing how shapes could fit within an 8″ × 10″ space while still telling a story. Arranging triangles, arcs, rectangles, circles, and cut-out forms proved much more challenging than it appeared. Finding balance, selecting a cohesive palette, and discovering how each piece could carry meaning took careful refinement. This exploration expanded into a trio, each artwork using the same visual language, main characters, and palette while developing a different office narrative.
A recurring main character appears in each piece—an elongated face, a triangular hat topped with a small sphere, two expressive eyes, and a geometric beak-like feature. A secondary figure, marked by a yellow triangular form with a small black sphere, plays an important supporting role as the next influence or reaction point in each story. Curved paths in conservative yet lively colors guide the viewer across the compositions, while punched-out shapes repeat elsewhere to echo the flow. A red-and-burgundy overlapping element anchors each piece, alongside a green curved rectangle positioned at the edge of every illustration.
Frantic Flight of the Cuckoo
This piece explores the pressure of time management. The main character—appearing in the form of a cuckoo—extends his wings outward after springing from the left side of the illustration. The secondary yellow figure walks along a path below a ticking clock as the manager looks on from above. Time also springs upward from the bottom of the illustration, emphasizing how quickly it rises, shifts, and overtakes the scene. The composition reflects the growing tension of deadlines and the chaos that builds as time disappears, dominating both the space and the urgency of the moment.
Tacky Tongue
This artwork examines the effects of workplace gossip. The main character faces the yellow figure with a sharp, pointed mouth. As their exchange grows more damaging, the yellow figure begins to develop a similar sharpness. A third character falls, muddied and harmed—his reputation damaged by the spreading gossip. Etiquette, shown as a conscience figure with a bow tie, flees downward from the yellow character and becomes a “house” at the bottom of the illustration, symbolizing how proper conduct abandons the situation. The green machine-like form hints at how gossip multiplies, the red-and-burgundy shape becomes a buzzing bee, and the curved path begins to fracture—showing how thoughtless words disrupt stability.
Collaborative Synergy
This piece focuses on teamwork and shared vision. The main character stands on the left wearing multiple hats—symbolizing the many roles, voices, and perspectives within a team. Three yellow hats with small spheres emphasize collaboration. The secondary figure appears on a tilted stage below, representing the team as a collective unit looking upward toward possibility. As shapes lean, overlap, and support each other, the rising curved path reflects the lift that comes when a team works in balance, drawing on each member’s strengths to move forward together.

Frantic Flight of the Cuckoo captures the tension of deadlines; Tacky Tongue reveals how gossip harms and spreads; Collaborative Synergy celebrates the lift of teamwork. Through geometric form and expressive storytelling, the series invites viewers to reconsider the dynamics shaping daily professional life in a colorful, imaginative way.
